SfK Ministries Newsletter - MARCH 2019 - "The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." (Isaiah 11:6-9) Podcasts on Business as Mission Many of us spend countless hours in our cars commuting and from work, picking up our kids and shuttling them from school to their extracurricular activities, or just trying to get from point A to point B.  Studies show that the average Californian spends approximately 90 hours a year stuck in traffic. Some of us spend those countless hours in the car listening to music.  Some pass the time with books on tape. Still others may spend it pondering and strategize how to tackle all their to-dos.  A great time to reflect and talk to God can be when you're behind the wheel.  We highly recommend spending a few minutes in prayer during your morning commute.  However, if you are inclined to use this time to learn more about BAM, a growing trend of tuning into podcasts has been popularized among students, commuters, and individuals who want to learn more and be entertained about subjects that interest them.  We have come across many great podcasts that touch upon and go into deeper discussions about BAM.  Here is a complication of a handful of podcasts that may interest those who want to hear more about business as missions and stories relating to BAM.   1.  NINE TO FIVE PODCAST A podcast for Christians at work, presented by Christians in Commerce. Christians in Commerce works to encourage and equip Christians to be God’s presence in the workplace by the power of the Holy Spirit, exercising faith, integrity, and excellence. Nine to Five podcasts are conversations with Christians aligning their careers with God’s mission and being Christ in their workplace. 2.  CHRISTIAN BUSINESS INSIGHTS christianbusinessinsights.libsyn.com A weekly Podcast from Dave Kahle, author of The Good Book on Business and The Kahle Way: Sales Management System.The Christian Business Insights Podcast provides ‘out-of-the-box’ views of Christian Businesses, designed to help you build a powerful business, expand your impact, and grow closer to God in the process. 3.  THEOLOGY OF BUSINESS PODCAST Theology of Business with Darren Shearer: Helping Marketplace Christians Partner with God in Business. Theology of Business helps marketplace Christians to partner with God in business to help you make disciples of your co-workers, your company, and your industry. If you want to learn more about how to do business for the glory of God, this show is for you.   4.  FAITH DRIVEN ENTREPRENEUR PODCAST The mission of Faith Driven Entrepreneur is to encourage, equip, empower and support Christ following entrepreneurial minded people worldwide with world class content and community. In this podcast, the aim is to answer any questions you might have from our experience and the experience of many others. These can be any type of questions from what does it look like to pray with an employee, to how do I think about choosing a partner, to how do I think about raising money, or growth hacking or intellectual property or hiring the best people.   Click for additional resources and podcasts about BAM   Ministry Updates    1.  Feb 9, 2019 - SfK met with a missionary to a Central Asian nation, to discuss various issues. We are forming a strategy for collaboration. Please pray that this strategy will gain traction going forward to be fruitful in this nation where Christians are being persecuted. 2. Feb 10 - 13, 2019. SfK made a trip to Dhaka, Bangladesh. SfK led a 2-day seminar about BAM and visited a missional business that is thriving in a Muslim village. We were greatly encouraged by what God has been doing through this agricultural farming business. Please pray that this 20-year old business will continue to thrive and produce Kingdom Impact in the Muslim village.     3. Feb 14 - 18, 2019. SfK Life and SfK Korea held their first Joint Board Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand. All participants enjoyed fellowship in unity, pursuing the Synergy for the Kingdom of God. SfK Korea made a few important strategic decisions. Please pray that the decisions will come to fruition to produce great Kingdom impact.    4. During the Joint Board Meeting, the participants paid a visit to a couple of faith-based freedom businesses in Bangkok, Thailand. The transformation impact that they are creating was apparent and significant. Please pray that the Lord will continue to bless them with heavenly riches so that they may expand their impact. 5. Hesed is a social enterprise established in Phnom Penh, Cambodia by missional entrepreneurs. It is now involved in running a organic farm product chain store, supplying roasted coffee beans to cafes and exporting quality palm sugar. Through these business lines, Hesed not only provides jobs but also empowers local communities in a sustainable way. Hesed is SfK's implementing member in Cambodia. Please CLICK to read an article about Hesed.  Upcoming Events & Prayer Requests   March 2019 - SfK plans to hold a 3-day strategic meeting with a Kingdom Business in Singapore, which intends to expand to Muslim nations. Please pray that this meeting will provide a clear road map to future plans. April 29 - May 10, 2019 - SfK MBA will hold its 10th BCT in Central Asia #1, primarily for local pastors who try to self-support their living. It is the first attempt to train via an interpreter. Three lecturers will serve as a team. Please pray that this BCT will equip local pastors adequately to start their businesses in this nation where Christians are under persecution.  Remaining SfK MBA's BCT programs in 2019: Arusha, Tanzania - (July 8 - 19, 2019) - English Kathmandu, Nepal - (August 19 - 30, 2019) - Korean Chiang Mai, Thailand - (October 7 - 18, 2019) - Korean May 2019 - SfK will provide a 4-day BAM training for new missionaries at a Korean mission agency training center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Please pray that this new found relationship will expand synergy-producing collaboration opportunities. May 2019 - SfK will hold a Forum in Korea for scholars and missionaries who have been displaced from a particular nation. Please pray that this forum will find creative and synergistic ways to restore these Kingdom workers. June 2019 - SfK will participate in ME Consultation to be held in Beirut, Lebanon. SfK will also hold a meeting with the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary leadership to explore the ways to collaborate. Please pray that the consultation and the meeting will bear fruit that is pleasing to the Lord.  Thank you for standing with us in equipping and empowering missional businesses in Asia and Africa for the Kingdom impact! Click for additional resources and podcasts about BAM 사역 동정 및 기도제목  1. 2019년 2월 9일 SfK는 중앙아시아에 있는 한 나라에서 사역하시는 한 분의 선교사님과 방콕에서 하루 동안 회의를 통해 여러가지 이슈를 논의했습니다. SfK는 기독교가 핍박을 받는 이 나라에서 여러가지 면에서 협력을 하기위한 전략을 수립했습니다. 앞으로 어떠한 모습으로 실현될지 확실하지 않지만 이러한 전략들이 진행되는 과정에서 불분명한 것들이 분명해지는 열매를 맺으며 크리스챤이 박해받는 이 나라에서 이러한 전략들이 효과적으로 수립될 수 있도록 기도해주시길 바랍니다. 2. 2019년 2월 10일~13일 SfK방글라데시, 다카 방문 SfK는 이틀동안 BAM 세미나를 개최하고 무슬림 마을에서 활발하게 사역하고 있는 한 선교 기업을 방문했습니다. 우리는 이 농업 기업을 통해서 하나님께서 주관하시는 역사를 보고 들으면서 큰 격려를 받았습니다. 지난 20년간 효과적으로 자리잡은 이 무슬림 마을 안에서의 사업을 통해서 더 큰 하나님 나라 임팩트가 드러날 수 있도록 기도해주시기 바랍니다.    3. 2019년 2 월 14 일 - 18 일, 2019. 미국의 SfK Life와 한국의 SfK Korea가 태국 방콕에서 최초 합동 이사회를 개최했습니다. 이번 합동 이사회의 주제는 교제 (Fellowship),하나됨 (Unity), 그리고 하나님 나라 시너지 (Synergy for the Kingdom of God) 이었습니다.  특히, SfK Korea는 단독 이사회에서 몇 가지 중요한 전략적 결정을 내렸습니다. 이런 결정들이 앞으로 보다 큰 하나님 나라 임팩트를 창출해낼 수 있도록 기도해 주시기 바랍니다.  4. SfK는 합동 이사회 일정 중에 두군데 정도의 기독교 신앙을 기반을 둔 프리덤 비즈니스 (인신매매 피해자들에게 고용창출을 하기 위해서 운영하는 기업)을 방문 했습니다. 이 프리덤 비즈니스를 통해서 피해자들에게 발생한 총체적 변화는 충격적이었습니다. 다시 한번 선교기업을 통해 역사하시는 하나님의 손길을 확신할 수 있었습니다.주님께서 이 프리덤 비즈니스를 축복하셔서 더욱 큰  총체적 임팩트가 창출되도록 기도로 함께 해 주시기 바랍니다.  5. Hesed는 캄보디아 프놈펜에 선교를 목적으로 세워진 사회적 기업입니다. Hesed의 주요 사업은 유기농 상품을 유통 촉진하는 보리솥,  카페 원두를 공급하는 모이 커피, 고급 팜 슈거를 수출하는 사업 등입니다. 이런 사업 분야를 통하여 일자리만 창출하는 것이 아니라 지역 공동체의 역량을 강화를 시키며 지속가능한 형태로 발전시키는데 있습니다. Hesed는 캄보디아에서 SfK 사역의 실행 멤버입니다. 2018년도에 캄보디아 주간교민지 뉴스브리핑캄보디아에 게제된 Hesed  기사를 보시려면 하단 링크를클릭하시기 바랍니다. 다가오는 SfK일정 및 기도 제목 2019 년 3 월 - SfK가 한 선교 기업과 싱가포르에서 3일 동안 전략회의를 가질 예정입니다. 이 선교 기업은 특별히 무슬림 국가들에 중점을 두고 확장 계획을 가지고 있습니다. 앞으로 향후 계획을 위해서 분명한 청사진이 보여지도록 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 2019년 4 월 29 일 - 2019 년 5 월 10 일 - BCT(선교기업 기초훈련) 를 실시합니다. 이번 훈련 프로그램의 주요 대상자는 현지 목회자들로서 그들의 경제적 자립을 돕기 위해서 실행합니다. 특히 이번 BCT는 최초로 통역을 통해서 실행하며 3 명의 강사가 팀으로 구성됩니다. 이 SfK MBA는 중앙아시아 1호 나라(보안상 국가명을 밝히지 않습니다.)에서 10번째 BCT가 현지 목회자들을 잘 훈련시켜서 성공적으로 창업을 하게 되고 기독교가 핍박받는 이 나라에서 경제적 자립을 이뤄갈 수 있을 뿐 아니라 지역사회에 변혁을 이끌어 내도록 기도해주시기 바랍니다. 다음은 2019 년도 안에 일정이 잡혀있는  SfK MBA의 BCT 프로그램입니다. 탄자니아의 아루샤 - (2019년 7 월 8 일 -19 일) – 영어로 진행 네팔 카트만두 - (2019년 8 월 19 일 ~ 30 일) – 한국어로 진행 치앙마이, 태국 - (2019년 10 월 7 일 ~ 18 일) – 한국어로 진행 2019 년 5 월 - SfK는 말레이시아 쿠알라룸프르에 위치한 한인선교단체 훈련원에서 신입 선교사를 대상으로 나흘간 BAM 훈련을 실시합니다. 이 훈련을 통해 새롭게 맺어진 이 선교단체와의 관계가 더욱 더 큰 시너지 효과를 내는 협력의 기회로 발전할  수 있도록 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 2019 년 5 월 - SfK는 한국에서 한 특정나라에서 추방당한 학자들과 선교사들을 위해 한국에서 포럼을 개최합니다. 이 포럼에서 창의적이고 시너지 효과를 내는 방법을 찾고 하나님 나라 사역자들이 재배치되는데 유익하게 사용될 수 있도록 기도 부탁드립니다. 2019 년 6 월 5 일 - SfK가 레바논 베이루트에서 개최 될 중동 컨설테이션 (ME Consultation)에 참여합니다. 이 기간, SfK는 아랍 침례교 신학 대학원 (Arab Baptist Theological Seminary)의 총장을 포함한 지도층과 협력을 강구하는 회의를 갖게 됩니다. 이번에 개최되는 ME Consultation과 신대원 지도층과의 회의가 주님을 기쁘시게 하는 열매를 맺도록 기도해주시기 바랍니다. 하나님 나라의 임팩트를 위해서 아시아, 아프리카에 있는 선교 기업들을 훈련시키고 역량강화하는 SfK 사역에 함께해주셔서 감사를 드립니다.   다음 뉴스를 보내드릴 때까지 선하시고 신실하신 주님께서 여러분을 풍성하게 축복하셔서 여러분 주변과 세상에 흩어져 있는 많은 소외된 이웃들에게 더 큰 복의 근원이 되시기를 기도합니다.
