Impact Purchases

We all purchase goods and services in our daily lives. Most of our purchases are primarily to meet our needs and desires.

What if our purchases can impact the lives of people in need and foster a culture of transformation? These types of purchases are categorized as impact purchases.

SfK aims to promote the sales of products and services manufactured by its missional businesses whenever possible. Such sales would help produce a significant transformation impact in the lives of their staff, clients, and family members.

For example, many courageous businessmen and businesswomen establish businesses in order to give freedom to those who have been victimized by human trafficking. They are called freedom businesses. Approximately 80% of freedom businesses are Christian-faith based and operate with a clear missional purpose.

In this issue, we are introducing three missional businesses that are selling quality products online, which can be purchased as gifts for the upcoming Christmas season. Your impact purchases will not only meet your needs and desires, but also produce a Kingdom impact in the lives of many socially marginalized people. Please consider shopping this season from these companies and make a socially conscious decision to make an impact purchase.

Ministry Updates

1. SfK held a mini training on BAM for Hesed Cambodia leadership in October to enhance their business management and leadership skills. Please pray that the Lord will continue strengthening the leadership of Hesed Cambodia.

2. SfK has agreed to invest in Srolan Mango Co., Ltd. in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This two-year old business focuses primarily on producing organic fruit products, such as mangoes and pineapples. It has already exported dried mango products to Korea in cooperation with Hesed Cambodia. Please pray that this investment will accelerate the business growth to the next level.

3. SfK gave a presentation on BAM to the congregation members of Logos Central Chapel (LCC), Denver, Colorado in October 2019. The church's Business Mission Team (BMT) has decided to make impact purchases of one of the companies listed above for its congregation members. Also, the BMT is making E-Learning video sessions on accounting for training online for SfK missional businesses. Please pray that the Lord will guide the members of the LCC BMT so that they may facilitate the missional business programs within the church and beyond.

4. Nanuri Co., Ltd. is a member of the SfK Missional Business Community. Nanuri Guest House has achieved its operational break even point in October. Also, Nanuri Medical Center is providing free medical check up services for children who cannot afford such services with the sponsorship of Korea's Food for the Hungry. Please pray that Nanuri will continue streamlining its administration and expanding its services for transformation impact under operational sustainability.

5. SfK is considering an equity investment in an agricultural business in Arusha, Tanzania. The 7-year old business is now being incorporated and expected for completion by December 2019. Meanwhile, a bridge loan has been made until this process is completed. Please pray that this investment will provide greater community development in Arusha Tanzania and beyond.

6. SfK Kingdom Fellows based in Atlanta, Georgia had a gathering in November to discuss our SfK Ministry updates and how to serve more effectively. Please pray that this bonding will only strengthen the unity and collaboration moving forward.

Upcoming Events & Prayer Requests

Dec. 2019: SfK leadership will make a visit to New York and Los Angeles. Please pray that the various meetings scheduled during these visits will pave the way to many God-provided opportunities and collaborations for His Kingdom.

Dec. 2019: Training for Hesed Cambodia for the leadership including local staff. This event will also coincide with Hesed Cambodia's annual celebration with the community stakeholders. Please pray that the leadership development will continue equipping the local leadership for greater effectiveness.

Feb. 2020: SfK plans to explore the opportunities to serve in Sri Lanka. Please pray that this exploratory trip will be meaningful and fruitful.

Feb. 2020: SfK will launch its new Focused Training (FT) in a South Asian nation and Nepal. Please pray that this new form of training will be effective under God's gracious guidance.

Feb. 2020: SfK will design a road map with an missional entrepreneur who has recently moved to Georgia, a Eurasian nation. Please pray that this mapping process will be helpful to a new venture that will be established in this strategically important nation.

Apr. 2020: SfK plans to visit Egypt to design a road map to effectively minister through a new business established recently. Please pray that this visit will bear meaningful fruit to this new missional business.

Apr. 29 - May 3, 2020: BAM Congress 2020 will take place in Jomtien, Thailand. This global gathering of BAMers will review what God has been doing through BAM over the past 20 years and discuss what lies ahead.
